Dropping in for Visits

July 20 and 22
Grandpa, Barbara and Uncle Grant had short - but fun - visits with Samuel on their way to from the cottage, weekend of July 20-22. On Friday night, Barbara brought him some scissors and paper and he quickly got to work cutting. Karine was relaxing on the deck, recovering from her bad cough.

Grant and Sam had their usual good time playing with trucks and gravel.  Sam thought the dust from the gravel was smoke - said "chaud".

On Sunday night, Barbara and Grant entertained him with bubbles.

Then he was happy to show off his jumping skills on his new trampoline. He jumped so fast it was hard to focus...

Finally he demoed his new no diaper skills, peeing on a tree. He is growing up!

Another Sick Day

July 12, 2012
For a second time this week, Grandpa and Uncle Grant looked after Samuel. His Major grandparents had him for a day too. Fortunately, he still had the energy to play.

This time he came to 9 Lambert where he enjoyed the backyard slide and the "eau" in the pond. Grandpa and Uncle Grant pushed him on his trike over to the park where he enjoyed the water feature and wanted to see how to turn it on. He tried both kinds of swings, and Grandpa made a short video of him. Uncle Grant tried the swings too.

Then it was back to 9 Lambert for lunch and a nap in Papa's old bed (no crib for him!)

Barbara came home bearing a train helium balloon. She introduced him to safety scissors, which he had a great time with while Grandpa baked some muffins.

When Maman and Papa arrived, Sam showed them the photos taken at the water park. Then he and Grant enjoyed a juice popsicle outside and Sam sampled the muffins.

Home Sick

July 10, 2012
Samuel was not able to go to his day care today as he is fighting an infection; he's on antibiotics. Grandpa and Uncle Grant looked after him for his day at home. As usual, he enjoyed some outside time, playing and taking Boots for a walk around Pine Loop Rd. He had a good afternoon nap and then sat on his booster seat on the patio waiting for Maman and Papa to come home.

Celebrating Canada Day Weekend

Canada Day

Samuel enjoyed his Canada Day weekend at the cottage.

Family tent

K&K&S set up their tent. Boots decided the cottage was more comfortable. Sam had a nap in the cotage and rolled off the bed with a big thump - like his Papa, he survived!

The deck

When it is warm, the deck becomes the family gathering place.

The dock and the lake

The dock is also popular. Playing in the water was a hit.

Paddling and fishing

Kirk had amazing luck fishing from the canoe, catching a pike and a bass - both nearby. Sam watched the pike cleaning procedure with great interest. He had fun trying out his paddle in the canoe.

Campfire on beach

K&K designed a campfire pit on the beach and Kirk cooked his pike for lunch. Sam checked a toad with Grandpa.

Motor boating

Although Sam loves to play with boats, he did not like his boat ride on Saturday night. He doesn't like to be in large noisy vehicles - he cried in the little train at Valleyview Animal Farm, on the OC bus with Karine's parents, and in the boat with Grandpa.

Island picnic

On Sunday K&K&S paddled to Chris's Island. The rest of us joined them in the motorboat, bringing lunch supplies. Kirk caught another bass which he cleaned and  cooked to have with our lunch. What a fun time we had together!

Dinner

As usual, Samuel enjoyed his corn on the cob at dinner.

Breakfast

On Monday morning he dug into raspberry pancakes made by his Dad. Grandpa and Papa checked the Quebec map for a route from Messines to Lac Vert. Then Samuel was off to visit Mami, Papi and Kayla for the rest of the day.
